Microneedling SkinPen© and Dermafrac
Freshening The Skin!
What Is Microneedling with SkinPen©?
The SkinPen© is a medical-grade, state-of-the-art microneedling device designed to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars on the face and body. It allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process by creating thousands of precise micro-injuries in the dermis, automatically triggering new collagen synthesis without causing scar tissue formation. One of the most exciting aspects of this unique treatment device is that it is safely used on all skin types; the SkinPen© microneedling device does not use any chemicals or heat during the procedure.
Treatment time is between 45 minutes to one hour and spaced 6 weeks apart. It is usually recommended to have 3-4 treatments for the best results and up to 6 treatments for more severe scarring and stretch marks. For anti-aging, usually 1-2 treatments per year are typically recommended. Microneedling is also called collagen induction therapy and can be used with PRP.
AREAS BEST TREATED WITH SkinPen©
We can also use serums or PRP with this procedure.
SkinPen© for Facial Acne Scars
Acne scars are typically the result of an inflamed blemish. They can also occur from pores that hold some type of damage deep under the skin that eventually creates a lesion on the surface of the skin. This can create raised and discolored tissue on the surface of the skin and an uneven or rough texture.
SkinPen© works by improving the surface and texture of the skin in the areas of acne scars treated, offering a smoother, healthier, and more youthful glow to your skin. SkinPen© was the first FDA-approved treatment for microneedling. SkinPen© works without the use of any heat, chemicals, or light therapy. This makes the treatment safe for all skin tones and skin types.
SkinPen© for Neck Wrinkles
Oftentimes, aging may appear on the neck before the face. The skin on your neck is more delicate. This area has less collagen, fewer oil glands and even less fatty tissue. Because of the combination of these factors, the skin on the neck is prone to creating a loose or sagging appearance The skin may come together in one area and appear to hang, which results in what many call a “turkey neck.” Wrinkles may form either across the neck, or horizontally (actually looking like necklaces around the neck), or vertically. Many people complain of the change in the texture of the skin on their neck, referring to it as “crepey.”
Creases, lines, and wrinkles on the neck may also be a result of how we move our bodies, heads, and neck each day. With a change in technology has come a change in how we move our heads and necks, constantly looking down to type on our laptops or text on our phones. The SkinPen© microneedling device is made to accelerate the look of fine lines and sagging, crepey, wrinkled skin on the neck. After each treatment, the healing process begins. Over time you will experience the appearance of rejuvenated skin and a feeling of renewed health and vitality.
SkinPen© for Skin above and below the Eyes
Many times, age may appear on either or both of the eyelids and on the browbone area, where skin often sags, creating a drooping appearance. This “drooping” makes an individual look older, makes it harder to apply makeup, and can sometimes even cause problems with eyesight, depending upon how low the skin above the eyes is sagging. Individuals often have the same problem below the eyes, when the skin sags below the lash line, causing the look of “tired” eyes, dark circles, and puffiness. Additionally, “crow’s feet” (the lines and wrinkles around the eyes) occur over time, due to the sun, the elements and squinting. The SkinPen© is an excellent treatment for these areas around the eyes, and over time offers a much healthier and tightened appearance around the eyes. The SkinPen© can make a big difference in this area because our eyes are our most commonly viewed feature, meaning an individual is usually focused on another individual’s eyes first.
Inflammation is created in the skin purposefully using the SkinPen©; your provider will use this to pierce the skin with the Skin Pen’s tiny microneedles in the designated areas to be treated. The piercing of the skin creates minute wounds that trigger your immune system to begin working by disinfecting the wounds and increasing blood flow to the area, and the creation of new tissue begins. This is our skin’s healing process in its natural state.
The tiny wounds created by the SkinPen© start to rebuild new skin with granular cells that contain special collagen proteins and a separate network of blood vessels develops in the treated area. Ultimately, these tiny wounds are replaced with new blood vessels and dermal tissues made of collagen and elastin proteins.

No. DermaFrac™ allows you to return to your normal activities immediately following the treatment. If you so desire, you may reapply your makeup immediately after the treatment. It is common to experience some pink or slightly red areas, which should fade quickly. The degree of redness you experience will be directly related to the amount of stimulation during the treatment.
DermaFrac™ is typically administered in six treatments four weeks apart. Continued treatments will be beneficial. A maintenance program consists of treatments performed every two weeks or as directed by your skincare practitioner.
Yes. DermaFrac™ is safe for all skin types.
Getting the skin fully hydrated before a laser peel or any fractional procedure makes for a more predictable treatment and is an ideal pre and post laser combination treatment.
In ablative resurfacing or any fractional procedure where water is the true target, full dermal hydration is desirable. Dermal hydration cannot be seen and is very different for each and every patient but it is safe to say that most people need to be hydrated prior to such procedures. Therefore, DermaFrac™ hydration treatment with hyaluronic acid a few weeks before a procedure helps to raise the target abundance in the epidermis and upper dermis, normalizing target levels so that most patients will have an even response to treatment and an equal ability to recover post-treatment.

What Is Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is an aesthetic treatment for the face to help build collagen, elasticity, and firmer and tighter skin. It can be considered a less intense version of microneedling for the face. The provider may inject different liquid vitamins and minerals that are injected in tiny droplet-like amounts into the skin through the use of a tiny needle, creating multiple injections into the area to be treated. Depending upon the needs of the client and the information discussed with your provider in consultation, the patients very own Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) may also be used along with the vitamins, minerals and plant extracts to be injected into the skin.
The goal of Mesotherapy is to revitalize healthy surfaces and internal facial tissues to create new cell growth and offer vitamins and minerals back to our skin that many of us are missing. The vitamins and minerals help jump-start renewal of cells and new cell growth, providing a more vibrant and healthy glow to the skin. This treatment helps improve surface wrinkles from the aging process and aids in the treatment of acne and hyperpigmentation as well. Mesotherapy also helps flush out toxins in the skin and has been known to improve blood circulation.
Mesotherapy can help to treat:
We can also use serums or PRP with this procedure
Mesotherapy is a process in which the provider uses a serum containing vitamins, nutrients, and possibly plant extracts, or the patient’s own PRP via a syringe with a tiny needle to make multiple, tiny injections into the designated treatment area. This process intentionally causes minor trauma to the skin to stimulate the body’s healing and regeneration response. A minor amount of bleeding is part of this process.
The tiny needle may be attached to a small mechanical device for more precise injections of the serum or products being used.
Mesotherapy can vary depending on the individual patient’s needs. Your provider will discuss any skin concerns you have with your skin and will then make a recommendation of the specific vitamins and minerals they would suggest using as part of the injection treatment. It is possible your provider may recommend specific vitamins, minerals, plant extracts or even one’s own PRP depending upon the area being treated.
Mesotherapy may cause:
- bumps at the injection site
- Tightens skin
- Helps reduce hyperpigmentation
- Aids in the reduction or removal of mild acne
- Non-invasive in-office treatment
- There is usually little downtime. Some patients may be able to apply sunscreen and makeup in as little as 2 to 3 days after the procedure, though the average is usually 5 to 7 days. This is dependent upon the area treated and each individual patient’s reaction to the treatment
Before you start treatment
Usually at least 1-2 weeks prior to your Mesotherapy procedure:
Avoid Sun exposure, Extreme Heat or Cold, and Tanning Beds
Avoid aspirin, and NSAIDS, and fatty acids, which may cause bleeding or bruising if used
Avoid alcohol use
Your provider will also discuss any medications and supplements you are taking during the initial consultation to clarify if you will need to stop taking any prior to the Mesotherapy procedure
- Immediately after treatment we ask that you avoid lying flat for 3-4 hours
For 48 Hours After Procedure
- Do not massage or rub the areas treated with Mesotherapy
- Avoid Strenuous Exercise, Sun, Extreme Heat or Cold, and Tanning Beds
After first week post-treatment:
- If patients find their skin itching after the first week of use of “Arnica gel???”, we recommend using Benadryl anti-itch gel in the evening.
- Make sure you are using an SPF of 30 or higher during the day under makeup and when going outside. For very light-skinned patients, we recommend using an SPF of at least 50 or higher.
- Patients may also wish to take Benadryl allergy tablets at night to ease itching; however, if you are taking other medications, make sure to consult with your doctor first prior to taking Benadryl medication orally.
