Loss of Volume or Shape in Face and Lips

Jowls

The term “jowls” is often used to describe sagging skin under the chin or jawline. Unfortunately, almost everyone develops jowls due to the skin becoming thinner and less elastic over time.

Jowls may be less pronounced in people who have more fat, thicker skin or more collagen in the area below the cheeks and chin. Some people may never have jowls due to their genes, environmental factors, and lifestyle choices.

Additional causes:

  • Facial Expressions
  • Weight Loss
  • Sun Exposure
  • Smoking
  • Using computers or phones

Flat or Unpronounced Cheeks:

There are several options for treating sagging jowls or reducing the appearance of them, including: surgical procedures (neck lift), lasers, liposuction, Morpheus 8 RF Micro-needling, Kybella, and dermal fillers. It is suggested to schedule a consultation to determine which path will be best for you.

Poorly defined cheeks can happen at any stage of life. Typically, this is a sign of aging (the fat pads slide down the face) and or the cheeks just lack definition. When meeting with our team, we will assess where and how much filler will be appropriate to enhance the look of the natural cheek.

As with the cheeks, the chin can lack projection, creating a flat profile. Fillers are also a wonderful alternative. Using the right type of filler (a hyaluronic acid) such as Juvederm Voluma, a collagen stimulating filler, in the proper amount and injecting it in the chin, can help project the chin giving it a more distinct angle.  Fillers provide immediate results.
