Stretch Marks and Cellulite

What is cellulite:

Cellulite is caused by a buildup of fat (adipose tissue) underneath the skin. The adipose fat pushes up against the skin, creating a lumpy bumpy look. Cellulite generally appears on the buttocks, thighs, and abdomen.  You can be thin and fit and still have cellulite.  The amount of cellulite you have and how noticeable it is can be based on your genes, body fat percentage, and age.  The thickness of your skin also affects the appearance of cellulite

What causes stretch marks:

Stretch marks (striae) are indented streaks that appear on the abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks or other places on the body. They’re common in pregnant women, especially during the last trimester. Stretch marks aren’t painful or harmful, but some people don’t like the way they make their skin look. Stretch marks can be also caused by weight loss or weight gain, rapid growth spirts, or weight training. Due to the abrupt change, collagen and elastin rupture causing the scar.

Both Cellulite and stretch marks have been difficult to overcome in the years past.  Even with a healthy lifestyle and weight loss, the two can still be present. Luckily, the SkinPen, Morpheus8 Body, Evolve Body Contouring, and Plasma Fibro Blast treatments can come to the rescue to help decrease the appearance of these stubborn concerns.
